The aromas arebrooding but with complex notes of pepper, liquorice, perfume, and black cherries. Thepalate entry is quite dense with lavender and dark berry fruit. Elegant and complex. A true expression of the best characteristics of 5 classic French varietals. Layered aromas of cherry and cassis, with notes of tobacco and cedar wood. Palate shows rich juicy red and black fruit with fine, integrated tannins. Grapes were hand-picked with stringent berry selection before fermentation and barrel maturation. The varietals were fermented and aged for 12 months separately, thereafter blended and put back into the barrels for a further 3 months. Shiraz 70% | Grenache 26% | Viognier 4% Aromas of cool-climate spice with white pepper and cloves. Floral hints courtesy of the Viognier. The spiciness carries through to the palate and is complemented by black berry flavours. The Grenache contributes red berry fruit, fine tannins and a long finish. Food Pairing: Pairs well with springbok and other game, meaty Italian style dishes, roast chicken, veal, duck, steak and lamb. Shiraz 58% | Mourvedre 34% | Grenache 8% Complex nose of blackberry, cranberry and dark cherries with savoury herbs and peppery spice. The palate impresses with ample dark fruit and subtle tannins that are underpinned with elegant oak use that adds to the structure of the wine. Food Pairing: A hearty stew with root vegetables or a roasted leg of venison served with caramelized onions and a dark cherry sauce. 50% Merlot | 25% Cabernet Sauvignon | 25% Shiraz The Old Man's Blend Red 2020 vintage is an ever so approachable wine, with ruby red colour. On the nose ripe red fruit with raspberry and fresh cherry on the palate. Long and smooth finish rounds off this everyday drinking red. 54% Cinsault | 23% Grenache | 23% Shiraz The aromas are perfumed, peppery, spicy and exhibit ripe red fruit notes. As always, the palate texture of this style of wine is supple, smooth on the entry but with enough grip and freshness to finish dry and refreshing. In the mouth the texture and fineness of fruit tannin and drinkability of the wine is immediately evident.
