Wine On Route: Privacy Policy
Introduction
Wine On Route recognises the importance of protecting your (“the User”) personal information. Therefore, we have put together and follow a policy that respects and addresses that.
Information Collection
Wine On Route is the sole owner of the information collected on Wine On Route’s web site (“the Site”). We will not sell, share, or rent this information to others in ways different from what is disclosed in this statement. Wine On Route collects information from the User at several different points on the Site.
Consent to collect information can be express (for example signing an agreement) or implied (e.g., if the User is given an opportunity to opt-out of a specific form of information sharing, but chooses not to do so, Wine On Route implies that the User chooses to share this information with us).
What information does Wine On Route collect?
At different times, Wine On Route may collect four types of information about the User.
- IP Address: We keep track of the User’s IP address. IP addresses are not linked to personally identifiable information. This information is aggregated to measure the number of visits, average time spent at the Site, pages viewed, etc. Wine On Route uses this information to determine use of the Site and to improve content thereon. Wine On Route assumes no obligation to protect this information and may copy, distribute, or otherwise use such information without limitation.
- Browser Information: We log browser types, access times, URLs from which visitors came to the Site, and URLs viewed by visitors while on the Site. Except as otherwise stated in this Privacy Statement, we do not provide this information to third parties, except in aggregate form.
- Personal Information for Registration: At specific times, we may ask the User to provide us with personal information to register for a service. This information may include but is not limited to the User’s name and e-mail address. The User may always choose not to provide us with this information; however, this may limit our ability to provide the User with a specific service or offer personalized content.
- Information for Recruiting: We request information from the User on our SIGN IN section. Here, the User must provide personal details (i.e. name, phone number, and e-mail address), language information, educational information, employment information, skills information, and preferences. This information is used for recruiting purposes. If we have trouble processing a request, the contact information is used to get in touch with the User. What other uses does Wine On Route have with the data it collects?
Whenever Wine On Route collects data, the data is intended to tailor or improve the experience of visitors to the Site. From the data collected, we can customize content and advertising based on the User’s preferences. We analyze what our users prefer in order to improve Wine On Route. Some broad statistical customer data is provided to our advertisers (e.g., percentage of males or females visiting the site), but specific personal information is not shared with our advertisers, except as otherwise stated in this Privacy Statement.
On occasion, we will e-mail bulletins to provide the User with information that we think the User will find useful, including information about new products and services. We might also contact the User by e-mail to see if the User is interested in participating in market research regarding Wine On Route. It is our policy to send these promotional e-mails only to users who give us permission to do so. In every such e-mail, we will also have instructions on how to unsubscribe and avoid receiving any future e-mails from us. Please see our Opt Out Policy section below. Wine On Route may also contact the User by e-mail to respond to customer-service complaints the User has submitted, to address a problem affecting the User’s use of the service, or to verify the User’s account information if the User submits a password request. What organization is collecting the information?
Some of our content partners, as well as advertisers who display ads on the Site, may use cookies or otherwise independently collect information from the User. We do not control their collection and use of information or their use of cookies or have access to the information contained in or related to those cookies.

With whom does Wine On Route share data?
We may share aggregate demographic information with our advertisers or information collection companies but will not reveal any personally identifiable information in these instances. These companies do not retain, share, store, or use personally identifiable information for any secondary purposes. We also partner with third parties to provide specific services. When the User signs up for these services, we will share the information that is necessary for the third party to provide these services. These parties are not allowed to use personally identifiable information except for the purpose of providing these services.
We will not voluntarily disclose any information about individual users, except as described in this Privacy Statement, or to comply with applicable laws or valid legal process, or to protect the rights or property of Wine On Route or others, to assist our e-mail vendor with resolving complaints about unsolicited e-mail, or as otherwise described in this Privacy Statement.
Credit Card Acquiring and Security
Credit card transactions will be acquired for Wine On Route by PayFast, who is the approved payment gateway in South Africa. PayFast uses SSL3, and no credit card details are stored on Wine On Route’s website. Users may go to www.payfast.co.za to view their security certificate and security policy. All encryption complies with international standards. Encryption is used to protect the transmission of personal information when completing online transactions. PayFast’s Internet servers are protected by firewalls and intrusion detection systems.
Customer Details separate from Card Details
Customer details will be stored by Wine On Route separately from card details, which are entered by the client on PayFast’s secure site. For more details on PayFast, refer to www.payfast.co.za.
What choices are available regarding collection, use, and distribution of the information (Opt-Out Policy)?
Many of the services available on the Site provide the User with the opportunity to opt-out of receiving communications from us and our partners. In addition, in our e-mail communications, we will have instructions on how to unsubscribe so that the User will not receive any future e-mails from us if the User so chooses.
As previously noted, the User may always choose to not provide us with any of the information we request; however, this may limit our ability to provide the User with a specific service or limit our ability to offer personalized content.
Users of the Site are always notified when their information is being collected by any outside parties. We do this so our users can make an informed choice as to whether they should proceed with services that require an outside party or not.

How can the User update or correct the User’s information?
If a User’s personally identifiable information changes (such as the User’s e-mail address), or if the User no longer desires our service, we will provide a way to correct, update, or remove that User’s personal data provided to us. This can be done from the MANAGE MY ACCOUNT page or by e-mailing Wine On Route at info@wineonroute.com.
What procedures have been designed to protect the loss, misuse, or alteration of information under Wine On Route’s control?
Wine On Route takes every precaution to protect the User’s information. We also do everything in our power to protect User information offline. Access to all of our Users’ information, not just the sensitive information mentioned above, is restricted in our offices. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job are granted access to personally identifiable information. Finally, the servers that we store personally identifiable information on are kept in a secure environment.

What about privacy policies for sites linked to Wine On Route?
Wine On Route contains many links to Web sites not affiliated with Wine On Route. These sites have their own policies and practices with respect to online privacy, and Wine On Route cannot be responsible for the privacy practices or the content of these unaffiliated Web sites. In addition, in certain instances, a Wine On Route advertiser may ask the User for personal information. Wine On Route cannot be responsible for the privacy practices of its advertisers.
What happens to my information if Wine On Route merges with or is sold to another company?
It is possible that Wine On Route and/or any of our assets may be acquired. In such a transaction, customer information may be transferred to the acquiring entity. While we will endeavour to require the successor company to maintain this Privacy Statement, we cannot guarantee that our policy will remain in effect.
Communications
We send all new members a welcoming e-mail to verify password and username. If a User wishes to subscribe to our newsletter, we ask for contact information such as name and e-mail address. Out of respect for the privacy of our users, we present the option to not receive these types of communications. Please see our Opt/Out section below.
We also send the User site and service announcement updates. Members are not able to unsubscribe from service announcements, which contain important information about the service. We communicate with the User to provide requested services and in regards to issues relating to their account via e-mail.
Notification of Changes
This policy may be revised over time as new features are added to the Web site. We will post our new Privacy Statement, along with the date of its last revision, prominently so that the User will always know what information we gather, how we might use that information, and whether we will disclose it to anyone.
