Textured, complex, yet as refreshing as the cool Atlantic winds that blow across this Darling-based vineyard. Winemaker Anthony de Jager attributes this Sauvignon Blanc’s fresh minerality to the red oakleaf soils and maritime climate in which the vines are grown. But terroir isn’t the only talking point: this classic example of Sauvignon Blanc meets all expectations, being intensely aromatic with ruby grapefruit, granadilla and lime aromas on the nose combined with a mouth-watering zestiness that lingers on the finish. 37% Viognier | 34% Roussanne | 19% Marsanne | 10% Grenache Blanc The legend goes that some errant members of Fairview’s long-established goatherd once escaped from their paddock into the Fairview vineyards after Charles Back’s young son Jason accidentally left the gate open. The little group happily roamed among the vineyards, showing rare discernment by selecting some of the ripest berries from the vines. Those berries have been used to make this white blend, a light bright green, medium bodied wine with aromas of apricots and pear and a zesty acidity.
